Help:How to create a new physician page
From World Top MD
| Before trying to create a new physician page, search our pages to ensure this physician still has no page about him/her.
If a page is found, you can edit it. Check the help pages for assistant in editing articles on World Top MD.
If a page is found but its name needs renaming (e.g., it was created by someone other than the physician and her/his license number wasn't known at the time, etc.), consult the help pages about how to rename a page.
To create a new physician page follow these four simple steps:
Creating a new page/article
Determining the name for the new page
Before we can create a page we need to give it a name.
A physician page name is constructed from the physician's name (first, last) followed by the country code where the physician's license was issued, and then the physician's medical license number, all inside parenthesis.
- Example for a physician page name: John Doe (US-0123456789)
The country code and license number are required to create different articles/pages in the case there are two or more physicians with the same name. If the country and/or the license number are unknown, you can use a general code (NN) and a series number (1, 2, 3 ...)
- Example for a physician page name: John Doe (NN-1), John Doe (NN-2), John Doe (NN-3), and so forth
|Note: Do not use Dr. or Prof. as prefix to the physician name. You'll enter the prefix later in the infobox.|
Creating the new page
The simplest (and quickest) method to create a new page is to use the wiki's URL.
The URL to any wiki article is usually something like this: http://www.worldtopmd.com/wiki/ARTICLE (*)
| Note (*): If the article is to be on one of the locale worldtopmd.com sites (e.g., Russian, German, etc.), than you'll need to use thats wiki domain as follows:
Replace ARTICLE with the name of the new page (i.e., physician name + country code + licence no.) that you wish to create.
- Following the above example, this would be: http://www.worldtopmd.com/wiki/John Doe (US-0123456789)
...You will be taken to a blank page which indicates that no article of that name exists yet. Clicking the "Create" tab at the top of the page will take you to the edit page for that article, where you can create the new physician page.
|Note: You must be logged in and verify your email address in order to create/edit content.|
Adding an infobox to your physician page
An infobox is a fixed template where you can insert the most important details on a physician (e.g., hospital's name, position of the physician, field of expertise etc.)
First thing to do is to copy into the new blank page an empty infobox_doctor template.
Fill-in the physician details inside the infobox
Fill in as much information as available in the infobox template fields. Do not worry if not all the information is available at the time of creating the page. You'll be able to return and add/delete/modify the information in the future.
It is strongly suggested to read carefully the infobox_doctor template documentation to learn what type of information is expected and/or allowed in it.
Enter free text about the physician
After you've created the infobox, you will probably want to add free text about the physician.
Inside the editing box, under the infobox template, you can add free text. To enter free text you must follow the wiki standards (see the help pages for information on wiki writing).
